When many of us think of outdoor Christmas decorations, yard signs and inflatable Christmas characters often come to mind. While many homeowners do choose to decorate their homes with inflatable Christmas characters and yard signs, there are others who feel that those types of outdoor Christmas decorations are too extreme.  If you would like to decorate your lawn for Christmas, without going to extremes, you can. There are a number of outdoor Christmas decorations designed for individuals just like you.

One of the best ways to go about decorating your lawn for Christmas, without overdoing it,  is to replace the items that you already have in your yard.  You will want to make those replacements be ones that have a Christmas theme. For instance, if you have a number of potted plants or flowers out in your yard, there is a good chance that they are in a traditional flower pot. Did you know that you can purchase Christmas planters?  Christmas planters are just like the planters that you may be using now, but they often have a Christmas or a holiday theme to them.  You should be able to find Christmas planters that come in Christmas colors or ones that have Christmas designs, such as Santa or snowflakes.  Christmas planters are an easy way to decorate the outside of your home for the holidays.

If you are a homeowner who has trees in your yard, there is a good chance that you have a birdhouse in at least one of those trees.  Did you know that you can buy Christmas themed birdhouses?  For the holiday season, you could easily replace your traditional birdhouse with one that has a Christmas theme. Christmas birdhouses come in a number of different sizes, shapes, and styles. Popular birdhouse shapes includes those that are shaped as churches, but it is also possible to find birdhouses that are shaped like snow sleds or something else similar in nature.  Christmas birdhouses are another easy way that you can bring a little bit of Christmas spirit to your front or backyard.

Another way that you can quietly, but effectively decorate your front yard for Christmas is by purchasing Christmas stepping stones. Christmas stepping stones look great in any yard or along any walkway. As with most other outdoor Christmas decorations, Christmas stepping stones also come in a number of different sizes, shapes, and styles.  Regardless of the size and shape of each stepping stone, you will find that most come with a Christmas or holiday design.  It is not uncommon to find Christmas stepping stones that are decorated with snowflakes or Christmas trees. Depending on where you are shopping, additional designs may also be available.

As beautiful as Christmas birdhouses, planters, and stepping stones are, they are items that often go unnoticed or un-purchased.  For that reason, it may be a little bit difficult for you to find the above mentioned Christmas decorations in one of your local retail stores.  It may be possible to purchase these amazing, but unique outdoor Christmas decorations from a specialty Christmas shop, but for the largest selection of outdoor Christmas decorations, you are advised to shop online.  You can easily find a number of retailers that specialize in selling the above mentioned outdoor Christmas decorations by performing a standard

Christmas celebrations differ depending on the country. What one country practices may not be applicable in other countries. Each country may also have their own array of special food they prepare during the holidays. Find out how they celebrate Christmas in China, France and Japan!

The Christmas season in China brings booming business. Many families buy artificial trees in their apartments. These Christmas trees, also called “trees of light” are decorated with chains, flowers and lanterns made out of paper. The children hang up muslin stockings, hoping that Dun Che Lao Ren—China’s version of Santa Claus, will fill the stocking with presents. Christmas celebrations in China include going to churches, filling up the structures with so many people that ministers believe it is proof the Christianity spreading throughout China.

In France, children put their shoes in front of the fireplace on Christmas Eve. They place them in hopes that Pere Noel (Father Christmas) will fill the shoes with gifts. Pere Noel’s sidekick Le Pere Fouettard is the one who “rewards” bad children with a spanking. After the midnight service on Christmas Eve, there is then a meal called ‘le reveillon’. Reveillon means to wake up, so cafes and restaurants will be open the whole night. The meal can include baked ham, fruit, oysters, sausages, salads, roast fowl and wine, since a wide selection of food is the true mark of Christmas celebrations. In northern France, children receive thir gifts on Saint Nicholas Day (December 6th), instead of Christmas Day.

The Japanese came to know about the Christmas holiday because of the Christmas products they had to manufacture for other countries. For most of them, Christmas is just a secular holiday devoted to their children’s love. Decorations are all over the cities, as is typical for Christmas celebrations. Lights are hung in dance halls, cafes, and pinball parlors where some Japanese go to celebrate. They decorate their trees with toys, dolls, ornaments and paper fans. They call Santa “Santa Kuroshu”, saying he has eyes in the back of his head to watch children all year long.

Here, you can see that Christmas celebrations are not the same in different parts of the world. If you are out of the country during Christmas, try to enjoy their way of celebrating, that way you will be enriched in terms of culture. You can also integrate different styles for a very interesting Christmas!

Christmas stockings are fun decorations most people use nowadays. They are usually hung near the fireplace, in the leaving room, staircase railings and on the bedside of the children. Long ago, many believe that if they place stocking in any part of their homes, Father Christmas would enter their homes secretly during Christmas Eve and fill the stocking with toys and goodies.

In modern times, Christmas stockings are often used as holders of little gifts for the kids. There are many legends associated with these stockings and the concept behind the hanging of these near the chimney.

The traditional Christmas stocking was introduced during the 19th century in North America. Thomas Nast, an artist and George Webster, a writer were the ones who introduced the idea of the stocking being hung from a chimney through illustrations and stories respectively.

Children in Quebec would traditionally hang their shoes near the chimney so that the Baby Jesus could put toys and goodies there during Christmas Eve. This custom, which was believed to have originated in the European countries, does not survive during this period. Other children from Quebec would hang their stockings on their bedside. This custom ended in the 1930s when Christmas trees were introduced and the idea of putting gifts under the trees were introduced as well.
In Holland, children would leave their clogs near the fireplace filled with straws for the reindeers of Santa Claus. It was believed that Santa was delighted by what the children did and so, he gave them gifts as an exchange for the straws given to his reindeers. Later, the clogs became Christmas stockings

No matter where the custom of hanging Christmas stockings came from, it has become popular all over the world. Children of Italy would leave their shoes outside during the night of Epiphany for the good witch, La Befana. In Puerto Rico, children would put flowers and green plants in boxes and place them under their beds for the camels of the Three Wise Men.

Nowadays, Christmas stockings are just being used as Christmas ornaments. They are sold in different colors, sizes and shapes.     No matter how the origin of these stockings differs, people enjoy the concept behind this custom. Children still find this tradition fun and exciting. Though the thought of Father Christmas leaving their stockings full of presents is not proven, parents would surprise the kids by doing the said task.
